Dan Ken’s song Tswar Nurunga is a striking piece that blends cultural rhythms with bold lyrical statements. In the track, he openly declares his dislike for politics, portraying it as a divisive and unappealing arena. This rejection of politics is not subtle; it is a central theme of the song, and Dan Ken uses it to distance himself from the conflicts and hypocrisies often associated with political life. By doing so, he positions himself as an artist who prefers to focus on personal joys rather than societal disputes.
In contrast to his disdain for politics, Dan Ken celebrates women throughout the song. He frames women as sources of beauty, inspiration, and happiness, creating a sharp juxtaposition between the negativity of politics and the positivity of love and admiration. This contrast gives the song a playful yet thought-provoking tone, as it highlights the things he values most in life. His admiration for women is expressed with warmth and energy, making the track resonate with listeners who share similar sentiments.

The song also includes Jeade’s bold claims, which add another layer of commentary. Jeade points out how political preferences can be polarizing, noting that some people may admire Alia but dislike Akume. This reference to real political figures underscores the divisive nature of politics in Nigeria, reinforcing Dan Ken’s decision to reject it altogether. By weaving these names into the lyrics, the song becomes more than just a personal declaration—it becomes a commentary on the broader social landscape.
Ultimately, Tswar Nurunga stands out because it mixes humor, honesty, and social critique. Dan Ken’s refusal to engage with politics, paired with his celebration of women, makes the song both controversial and relatable.
